Off Topic (Research)

So, for my project, I'm choosing to focus on the Brothers Grimm and their mythos. I'm using the units from this class because I might as well get extra credit fro taking notes on these stories. Each story will be encapsulated in an object on display in the museum- clever name to come. And I'm thinking it can be written like museum labels with an audio element like a museum tour. The closed captioning would be below the Soundcloud embedding to allow for content on both media types. It could have cool features and be like a podcast. Maybe something like Lore meets Mysteries at the Museum? I really just want to be a writer for the Travel Channel if you can't tell.

This story would be shown through a bloody golden slipper. One that has blood crusted on the interior near the heel and toes. Maybe there could be an expert from each sister talking about how although the shoe didn't fit, their mother so desperately wanted it to the point of having her daughters cut off appendages. There could be references to the tree that grew on Aschenputtel's mother's grave, and how gave her what she desired. Her mother caring for her from beyond the grave.

This story could be shown through Rapunzel's sheared braids sitting in a case. The ends rough and tattered from the cutting scissor's. The tale that would accompany them is of kidnapping, attempted murder, and a love so powerful it could save the kingdom (read in the voice of Don Wildman, the host of Mysteries at the Museum, because that could totally be one of his intros). Maybe this one could be in the view of "I Survived" and have the prince or Rapunzel telling their story of how they escaped near death from the witch.

The Mirror or looking-glass would be the displayed element for this story. The image of Snow White has always been one beauty, but the description of her could also be one of horror. Skin as white as snow, lips as red as blood, hair as black as ebony- this could also describe something like a vampire, who's beauty is used to lure in prey. Maybe that would be a fun way to change the story up? And the mirror stands as a symbol for the stepmother who was able to break that compulsion, and realize what was going on in the kingdom (also read in the voice of Don Wildman). Or I could go with the shoes at the end of the story. That the mother wore in punishment and danced to her death at Snow White and the Prince's wedding. I could focus in on the punishment of the crime and the justice system of the kingdom at that time.
